Prayer Changes You
Zephaniah 3:17The Lord, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah shows God among His people as a mighty Savior who rejoices over them, calms them with His love, and sings. Divine delight is relational: you are not merely tolerated; you are rejoiced over. That changes how love works horizontally. People who know they are sung over by God can risk tenderness again. If rejection has taught you to expect scowls from heaven, let this verse correct the picture. The mighty One saves and then stays near enough to quiet you with love. Advent is God-with-us season; Zephaniah adds God-glad-over-us. Receive His nearness before you try to manufacture cheer for others. Then let calmed love shape how you speak to spouse, child, or friend. Being delighted in is fuel for delighting in someone else without grasping.
PrayerMighty Savior, rejoice over me as You have promised. Calm me with Your love, and let Your delight free me to love the people beside me. Amen.
