New Morning Mercy
Micah 7:7But as for me, I will look to the Lord. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.
Micah sets a personal policy against the chaos around him: I will look to the Lord; I will wait; my God will hear me. Looking is directional—eyes pointed toward God rather than toward every threatening headline. Waiting is active trust. Confidence that God hears keeps prayer from feeling like shouting into weather. Advent discipleship can borrow Micah's three lines as a daily liturgy. When conflict flares at work or home, decide in advance where your gaze goes first. Looking to the Lord might mean a paused breath and a whispered name of Jesus before you reply. Waiting might mean not sending the message you typed in anger. Hearing is God's side of the conversation—already promised. Anchor your December in that policy, and let lesser voices lose volume.
PrayerMy God, I look to You and wait. Hear me in the noise of this season, and keep my eyes from fixing on every lesser alarm. Amen.
