Door of Hope
Habakkuk 3:18Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
After the barren list comes the "yet." Habakkuk will rejoice in the Lord and be joyful in the God of his salvation. Joy here is defiance with a clear object—not denial with a pasted smile. Salvation means God has acted and will act as rescuer. Advent joy sounds like this: circumstances may stay hard while the heart learns a deeper music. Practice a small "yet" today. After you acknowledge what is missing, speak aloud one true thing about God's character. Sing if you can—even badly. Joy in salvation does not require that every gift under the tree be sorted. It requires a Savior worth celebrating. Let rejoicing be an act of loyalty to reality's deepest layer: God saves.
PrayerGod of my salvation, I choose the "yet." Teach me to rejoice in You when outcomes lag, and fill my mouth with joy that tells the truth. Amen.
