God Speaks Softly
Jeremiah 29:12You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Exiles received a surprising instruction: call, go, pray—and God will listen. Listening is personal attention, not a cosmic suggestion box. Advent trains us to call on God while we wait for fuller unveiling. Prayer in this verse is movement—you go to Him—not merely a vague wish. If your praying has thinned into hurried fragments, rebuild a simple path: set a place, speak honestly, expect to be heard. Listening does not always mean immediate rearrangement of circumstances. It means your voice reaches a Father who is not distracted. December busyness will try to steal that path. Guard one daily appointment, even brief, to call on the Lord. The God who listened to exiles still leans toward people who pray instead of only worrying out loud to themselves.
PrayerLord, I call on You. Receive the prayers I bring in this Advent season, and teach me to come rather than only to fret. Amen.
