Mercy Triumphs
Isaiah 55:8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways," says the Lord."
Advent begins under a sky of higher thoughts. God announces that His thoughts and ways outrun ours. That is rebuke to presumption and comfort to confusion. You do not have to understand the whole plan to trust the Planner. In the weeks ahead the church remembers a coming that looked unlikely—a child, a manger, a quiet night that rearranged history. When your calculations stall, let Isaiah loosen your grip on needing to be the smartest person in your own story. Bring unanswered questions without demanding that God shrink to your logic. Higher ways include mercy you would not have scripted and timing you would not have chosen. Practice Advent humility: watch, pray, and admit that God's imagination for redemption exceeds yours. That admission is the beginning of wonder.
PrayerLord, Your thoughts are higher than mine. In this Advent week, free me from needing to master every mystery, and teach me to trust Your wiser ways. Amen.
