Matthew 6:33But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
Jesus places Kingdom-seeking ahead of the anxiety spiral about food, drink, and clothing. He does not scold people for having material needs; He relocates those needs under the Father's care and under a first loyalty. Seeking first can look surprisingly ordinary: starting the morning with Scripture before headlines, choosing integrity at work when a shortcut would pay faster, budgeting in a way that leaves room for generosity. "All these things" are not a blank check for luxury. They are the Father's attention to what sustains life while you pursue His reign. When money stress crowds your vision, ask what Kingdom faithfulness looks like in the next hour—honesty, prayer, a wise phone call—rather than trying to solve the whole year at once. Priority is a practice. Each time you put God's rule first, worry loses a little of its microphone, and trust learns a clearer voice.
PrayerFather, reorder my first loves. I seek Your Kingdom and righteousness today; free me from anxious grasping and teach me to trust Your care for what I need. Amen.
