The Gift of Presence

Haven't I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9

Joshua stood at the edge of a calling that outsized his nerves. The command to be strong was not a pep talk from a coach who would leave after kickoff; it was anchored in the Lord's presence. Courage here is obedience under pressure, not the absence of butterflies. You may face a hard conversation, a new responsibility, or a season where fear narrates every outcome. The antidote is not self-hype. It is remembering who goes with you. "Don't be dismayed" speaks to the slow leak of discouragement as much as to sudden panic. When fear scripts the day, answer it with a short truth: the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Then take the next concrete step—send the email, make the appointment, show up—while praying for steadiness. Strength grows in motion, accompanied by God, not in waiting until you feel fearless.

PrayerCommander of my days, drive out dismay. Make me strong enough to obey, courageous enough to take the next step, and mindful that You go with me. Amen.
