Lilies and Sparrows
Jeremiah 17:8For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green; and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won't cease from yielding fruit.
He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. Planted by water, roots by the stream—trust located. Heat comes; fear need not. Leaves stay green; drought years need not kill fruitfulness. October heat and financial drought test root placement. Anxiety in drought is natural; this tree offers another way. Send roots toward God in prayer and Scripture before crisis peaks. Remain green as witness. Bear fruit anyway—generosity, patience, truth. Not anxious is a practiced trust, not a personality quirk. Look hard at your planting. Move toward the stream if you have been rooting in sand. Fruit in drought glorifies the Planter.
PrayerLord, plant me by Your water—let my roots hold through heat and drought so I keep bearing fruit without panic. Amen.
