Hope That Outlasts
Romans 8:26In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered.
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Help in weakness includes prayer assistance. Not knowing how to pray is admitted. The Spirit intercedes with groanings beyond vocabulary—good news for hospital chairs and confused nights. September weakness can silence polished prayers; groan anyway. Lean on the Spirit's intercession when words fail. You are not prayer-less because you are inarticulate. Weakness is the setting for help, not the disqualifier. Rest in being prayed for from within. Chase after the Spirit's help explicitly. Then sit quietly and let groanings rise. God searches hearts and knows the Spirit's mind. You are accompanied in the fog.
PrayerHoly Spirit, help my weakness and intercede when I do not know how to pray—carry my groans to the Father. Amen.
