Bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. Bless and pray—active responses to curse and abuse. This is not a call to remain in danger without help; it is a call to refuse curse-for-curse in the heart and mouth. Bless with words that seek good. Bring before God the abuser's repentance and for your protection. September pain from harsh people needs this discipline. Hand vengeance to God. Go after safety and wise counsel when abuse is ongoing. Meanwhile, cleanse your mouth of returning curses. Prayer keeps you from becoming what hurt you. Blessing interrupts cycles. Jesus walked this path. Follow as you can, with the church around you, until soft hearts and firm boundaries hold together under grace.
PrayerLord, help me bless when cursed and pray when abused—protect me, and keep my heart from revenge. Amen.
