What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate. God is the joiner; humans must not play separator. Marriage's solidity rests on His act, not only on feelings' weather. Let not is a command to the community as well as the couple—friends, family, and churches should refuse to cheer casual tearing. Separation schemes include slow emotional exits, third-party interference, and cynical advice. Honor joining by investing in repair, counseling, repentance, and patience where covenant can be saved. Where abandonment or abuse has shattered safety, seek wise help; this verse is not a weapon against the wounded. In ordinary erosion, fight separation. God joined. Treat the bond as holy. August remarries culture to convenience; the church remarries couples to promise. Stand on the join.
PrayerLord, what You join, keep us from separating. Strengthen covenants and give wisdom where harm has complicated the path. Amen.
