The Lord Will Provide
1 Timothy 6:6But godliness with contentment is great gain.
But godliness with contentment is great gain. Gain redefined. Godliness is life oriented to God; contentment is settled sufficiency under Him. Together they outrank restless accumulation. Great gain is Paul's deliberate market language flipped on its head. August consumer habits can numb you to this math. Practice contentment by thanking God for enough, stopping a purchase that is really envy, and pursuing godliness in secret prayer. Gain that ignores godliness empties out. Contentment without godliness can become apathy. Hold them together. Great gain may look quiet from outside—steady joy, sleep, generosity. Hunt for that portfolio. If discontent is chronic, ask what false gain you have been chasing. Return to godliness first; contentment often follows like a shadow when God Himself is enough for the day.
PrayerLord, teach me godliness with contentment—the great gain that outlasts restless wanting. Amen.
