Love Keeps No Record
Genesis 2:24Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Leaving, holding fast, becoming one—marriage's deep structure. Leave means new primary loyalty; hold fast means stubborn cleaving; one flesh means union of life, body, and purpose. Parents remain honorable, yet the new household needs room to form. Holding fast resists exits of heart long before exits of paperwork. One flesh is gift and responsibility—sexual faithfulness, shared life, mutual care. Guard this pattern in your marriage or honor it in others. August pressures on families make leaving-and-cleaving clarity merciful. Discuss loyalties kindly. Cling on purpose. Become one in decisions, not only in romance language. God designed this union; treat it as holy joining, not as a temporary contract of convenience.
PrayerLord, teach spouses to leave, hold fast, and become one flesh with faithfulness that honors Your design. Amen.
