1 Timothy 6:17Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. Wealth's hazards: pride and misplaced hope. Uncertainty of riches is frank. God provides richly—for enjoyment, not for worship of the gift. If you have much, receive the charge. If little, refuse envy that copies haughty hope. Set hope on the Provider. Enjoy what He gives without apology and without addiction. Present age wealth is temporary furniture. Charge yourself before someone else must. August abundance or lack both test where hope sits. Rich provision from God includes joy; do not let anxiety or arrogance steal the enjoyment He intends while you trust Him rather than the market.
PrayerLord, keep the rich from arrogance and false hope; set my hope on You who richly provides things to enjoy. Amen.
