You Are Not Behind
Deuteronomy 15:10You shall surely give, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him; because that for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to.
You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake. Free giving with a non-grudging heart is the standard. Grudging gifts can move money while withholding love. God ties blessing in work and undertakings to openhanded care for the needy in Israel's life—generosity as covenant practice. Examine the grudging edge in you: the sigh, the lecture attached to the check, the scorekeeping. Give freely where God points, then release the gift. Blessing in all your work is encouragement, not a formula to game. July needs show up at church and on street corners; meet one without bitterness. A glad giver works differently the next day.
PrayerLord, make my giving free and my heart ungrudging. Bless the work of my hands as I care for those in need. Amen.
