Power to Witness
Acts 1:8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Pentecost power is for witness, not for private spiritual vanity. The map moves from near to far—home, region, overlooked places, edges of the world. Power arrives as the Spirit's presence enabling speech and courage you did not self-generate. Examine where your Jerusalem is today: a kitchen, a desk, a neighborhood. Witness includes words about Jesus and a life that does not contradict them. You may feel under-powered for the assignment; that is why power is promised as gift. Receive, then speak with humility. The ends of the earth still need ordinary Spirit-filled people.
PrayerHoly Spirit, come with power for witness. Make me faithful in the near places and willing for the farther ones. Amen.
