Joy Without Excess
Psalm 19:14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, the Lord, my rock, and my redeemer.
Mouth words and heart meditations both need to pass before God's sight. Acceptable speech grows from acceptable inner rehearsal. Rock and Redeemer names stability and rescue. If your mouth has been sharp or your inner monologue cruel, bring both to this prayer. Eastertide people still need daily speech hygiene. Meditation of the heart includes what you replay about enemies and about yourself. In prayer, name acceptability, then practice silence when words would wound. Redeemer can reclaim a tongue that has run long in the wrong direction. Return to the verse once more before sleep rewrites your resolve. Hold mystery and obedience in the same hour without forcing a tidy bow. Measure success today by faithfulness under ordinary pressure, not applause. Open your hands again when control tries to close them around the plan.
PrayerRock and Redeemer, make my words and my heart's meditation acceptable to You. Guard what I rehearse inside. Amen.
