Joy Returning
Titus 3:5Not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.
Holy Saturday sits in the in-between: death behind, rising not yet shouted. Titus refuses to fill the quiet with a human résumé. He saved us, not by works of righteousness we had done, but according to His mercy, through washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Waiting days expose how quickly we want to earn calm. Mercy will not be hired. Rebirth is God's work; renewal is the Spirit's ongoing kindness. Use the quiet to stop negotiating with grace. If unfinished feelings rise—grief, boredom, fear—bring them to the mercy that already acted, not to a scoreboard. Rest as someone cleansed and being renewed, even when the story still feels paused. Let Saturday teach you to wait without self-salvation projects.
PrayerMerciful Lord, You saved us by mercy, not by our record. On this quiet day I rest in rebirth and ask the Spirit to renew me. Amen.
