Song in the Night
Romans 5:1Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Justified by faith, we have peace with God through Jesus. Lent's gravity rests on this gift: right standing and peace already secured, not earned by fasting. Spiritual disciplines train disciples; they do not purchase justification. If guilt has been your main Lent fuel, switch to gratitude for peace with God. Confession remains vital because relationship is real—but you confess as someone justified, not as a defendant inventing payment. Let peace with God quiet peace-performance with people. Breathe the verdict: righteous in Christ by faith. Then walk into disciplines as a loved person, not as a probationer. Peace with God is the only safe fuel for spiritual effort. Work from that peace whenever Lent feels heavy. Justified people confess like children, not like defendants buying freedom.
PrayerLord Jesus, thank You for justification and peace with God. Let this gift frame my Lent so that discipline grows from grace, not from dread. Amen.
