Family Prayer
Romans 13:8Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
The only debt Paul wants left outstanding is love. Financial imagery startles: cancel other debts you can; keep paying love forever. Neighbor love fulfills the law because it refuses harm and seeks good. Check your ledgers—money owed, favors tracked, emotional IOUs. Some debts need responsible repayment; love debts should never be marked "paid in full" as if you are done caring. February is a short month; do not let love be the thing you defer. Send the encouraging note. Share the meal. Tell the truth kindly. Owed love is a joyful obligation for people who have received Christ's love without invoice. Leave other ledgers cleaner where you can, yet keep love's account open on purpose. Someone near you needs a payment of patience tonight.
PrayerLord, cancel my excuses about love. Help me pay affection, honor, and practical care as an ongoing debt I gladly keep. Amen.
