Isaiah 43:18Don't remember the former things, and don't consider the things of old.
Isaiah calls God's people to stop living inside old failures and expired maps. Remembering former things can become a prison when regret or nostalgia runs the present. God was about to do something new for exiles who thought the story had ended. You may not be in Babylon, but you may be stuck replaying a breakup, a layoff, a harsh word, or a version of yourself you cannot seem to leave. "Don't consider the things of old" is not amnesia; it is refusal to let the past be the only prophet of your future. Confess what needs confessing, learn what must be learned, then lift your eyes. Ask God what new obedience looks like this week. Take one step that belongs to the future He is writing rather than to the chapter you keep rereading.
PrayerLord of new things, free me from replaying what You have already addressed. Teach me to learn from the past without living inside it. Amen.
