The Bond of Peace
1 Corinthians 13:7Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love bears, believes, hopes, and endures—four verbs that sound poetic until you apply them to a strained friendship or a long marriage. Bearing all things is not swallowing abuse; it is refusing to throw people away at the first disappointment. Believing all things leans toward trust rather than suspicion when evidence is incomplete. Hoping all things keeps a future open when cynicism wants to close it. Enduring all things stays present through seasons that feel endless. Together they describe love with a long memory for grace and a short memory for petty offense. Pick one relationship that has felt fragile. Ask which of the four verbs is most needed this week. Then practice it in a concrete way: show up, assume a charitable motive, speak a hopeful word, or simply refuse to quit the conversation God still has in that bond.
PrayerLord of enduring love, teach me to bear, believe, hope, and endure with wisdom. Strengthen the fragile bonds You have placed in my life. Amen.
